As the fastest-growing city in the West and with a strong pro-business reputation, it is only logical that BetterTrades, the nation's No. 1 stock market education company, would have a heavy stake in Las Vegas. BetterTrades not only schedules regular seminars in Las Vegas, it is headquartered there as well.
BetterTrades was established in 2002 by entrepreneur Freddie Rick, who developed the stock market techniques and strategies to amass a personal fortune. Freddie then compiled all the information into a simple system which took the mystery out of the often-difficult notion of making money in the stock market. Freddie's A-B-Cs and 1-2-3s make it easy to understand how to make money in the market and have been used by thousands of students to help improve themselves and take steps toward reaching their individual financial goals.
Las Vegas is the most populous city in Nevada, but is not the state capital; that honor belongs to Carson City. But it does bill itself as "The Entertainment Capital of the World." Las Vegas is the gambling capital of the United States, with many resorts based in the area that cater to those who enjoy placing a little wager on a football game or dropping a few half dollars in the slot machine. Gambling was legalized in 1931 and led to the development of many casino-hotels. While other cities in the country have legalized gambling (primarily Atlantic City and the Gulf Coast in Mississippi), Las Vegas remains the site most synonymous for casinos and gambling.
But Las Vegas is more than just about wagering; it has become a hub for entertainment, a frequent setting for television and movies, and a hot spot for conventions. It is also the world headquarters for two of the largest Fourtune 500 companies (Harrah's Entertainment and MGM Mirage) and has a high number of technology companies who have been created or who have moved to the area, companies like Bigelow Aerospace, CommPartners, eVital Communications, Tetroglyph, SkywireMedia, Switch Communications and WorldDoc.
The growth of Las Vegas isn't surprising. The city began as a stopover on the pioneer trails to the west and became a popular railroad town. It became an important staging point for the area's many mines. The development of nearby Hoover Dam in 1935 brought plenty of workers and tourism to the area, which now included Lake Mead, the largest man-made lake and reservoir in the world. More people came to the area when Nellis Air Force Base was established in the area.
The city has become known for the arts, too. The concept of Symphony Park was born in 2004 and was designed to include residential and high-rise offices, an academic medical center, a center for performing arts, and a new city hall.
BetterTrades hosts stock market classes each year in Las Vegas and Henderson, a city at the southeast end of the valley. Las Vegas is the largest city in the state and Henderson ranks No. 2, which gives BetterTrades a strong presence in the state. Students from throughout the region who seek information about the stock market find it easy to attend a BetterTrades class in the area.
BetterTrades is pleased to be linked with a progressive area in Nevada, which is loaded with the sort of positive, forward-looking traits. The state has no corporate tax and no personal income tax structure, which makes the atmosphere conducive to growth and development. With the regular classes and the company headquarters there, BetterTrades sees many strong connections with the area and expects the association to continue for many years to come.
